How discounts work
From time to time a subscription is offered at a discount. A discount lowers the price of your first payment. It does not change the price of later payments.
The discount applies to the first payment only
When you subscribe with a discount, the reduced price applies to your first payment. After that, the subscription renews at the regular price. The checkout page shows the discount and the renewal price before you confirm.
Where discounts come from
Some discounts are set by the author for their own novel. Others are platform campaigns that cover a group of novels. If more than one discount applies to you, you get the best one.
What a discount means for the author
Tellura and the author split what you actually pay. When you pay a discounted price, the author's share of that first payment goes down by the same proportion. A 20% discount means the author receives 20% less for that payment. Later payments at full price return the author's share to normal.
Platform campaigns and opting out
Before a platform campaign starts, an author can opt a novel out of it. If they opt out, the campaign no longer covers that novel and no new subscriber receives the discount on it. Readers who subscribed while the discount was active keep their discounted first payment. After a campaign starts, the author cannot leave it early, but a global opt-out keeps their novels out of future campaigns.
New subscribers only
Some discounts are for new subscribers only. If you have subscribed to that novel before, you see the regular price. The tier card marks these discounts so you know before checkout.
