Chapter 39 — Final Harvest

After leaving the battlefield, Li Tianyu continued flying through the sky.

He traveled for several hours before finally finding a human city.

He descended outside the city and concealed his cultivation before entering.

The city was relatively peaceful.

There were no signs of any major battle nearby, and the streets were filled with Gu Masters coming and going.

Li Tianyu wandered around for a while.

After becoming somewhat hungry, he entered an inn and ordered a proper meal.

He ate quietly while listening to the conversations around him.

Nothing particularly interesting caught his attention.

After finishing his meal, Li Tianyu left the inn.

He had another matter to deal with.

His aperture contained a large number of Gu worms.

Most of them were useless to him in their current form.

They needed to be converted into Rank Two Gu worms before they could become nourishment for his Burning Ember Gu.

Therefore...

Li Tianyu began visiting the various Gu worm shops throughout the city.

He didn't sell everything to a single shop.

That would attract far too much attention.

Instead, he divided his Gu worms into small batches.

A few Rank One Gu worms here.

Some Rank Three Gu worms there.

Then another batch somewhere else.

The Rank Three Gu worms were particularly valuable, so Li Tianyu was even more careful.

He didn't allow any single shop to see too many of them.

Whenever possible, he exchanged them directly for resources or Gu worms rather than taking large amounts of primeval stones.

As for his Rank Two Gu worms...

He exchanged them for other Rank Two Gu worms of relatively low value.

The exact species didn't matter.

To Li Tianyu...

They were ultimately destined to become nourishment for the Burning Ember Gu.

He repeated the process again and again.

One shop.

Then another.

Then another.

By spreading the transactions across the entire city, he avoided creating any obvious pattern.

By the time the sun began to descend...

Li Tianyu had finished his work.

After counting his gains, he found that he now possessed a total of 2,364 Rank Two Gu worms.

Li Tianyu nodded slightly.

It was a decent harvest.

Before returning to the inn, he visited several shops that specialized in higher-ranked Gu worms.

He purchased several expendable Rank Four Gu worms.

They were expensive.

But Li Tianyu didn't hesitate.

These Gu worms weren't meant for ordinary use.

They were emergency measures.

If he encountered an enemy he couldn't defeat or a situation he couldn't escape from, having several Rank Four expendable Gu could potentially save his life.

After completing his purchases, Li Tianyu returned to the inn.

Once inside his room, he closed the door and activated his Gu worms.

Inside his aperture...

The Burning Ember Gu floated quietly.

Li Tianyu began feeding it the Rank Two Gu worms.

One after another...

The Gu worms disappeared into the crimson flames.

The Burning Ember Gu devoured them rapidly.

Their essence was converted into pure Dao fragments and stored within its Dao Repository.

The process continued for quite some time.

Eventually...

The final Rank Two Gu worm was consumed.

Li Tianyu checked the Dao Repository.

The number had increased once again.

55,509 Rank Two Dao fragments.

Li Tianyu's eyes flickered.

His accumulation was steadily increasing.

He still had a long way to go.

But every bit of accumulation mattered.

He wasn't in a position to waste resources.

After finishing everything...

Li Tianyu didn't immediately leave the city.

He had already spent an entire day traveling and dealing with his harvest.

There was no reason to exhaust himself further.

Outside...

The city gradually became quieter as night fell.

Li Tianyu closed his eyes.

For tonight...

He would rest.

Tomorrow, he would continue his journey.

The battles Li Tianyu had encountered during his travels did not mean that the entire Central Continent was constantly engulfed in warfare.

Most of the time...

The various races lived relatively normally.

Conflicts did occur.

Neighboring races sometimes fought over resources, territory, inheritances, or other reasons.

Some conflicts happened every few months.

Others might only occur once every few years.

It was simply that Li Tianyu had been deliberately traveling enormous distances in search of battlefields.

Whenever he sensed signs of conflict, he would change his route and head toward them.

As a result...

From his perspective, it seemed as though battles were occurring everywhere.

But in reality...

The Central Continent was far larger than what he had seen.

There were countless peaceful regions between those battlefields.

Li Tianyu simply happened to be searching for the places where conflict erupted.
