Chapter 22 — Quiet Routines

Ren and Lyra soon arrived back in the city.

"Alright, let's go submit the mission," Ren said, holding Lyra's hand as they walked toward the Adventurer's Guild.

They entered the guild and headed toward the reception counter.

The same receptionist from earlier was still there.

"Oh, you're back pretty soon," she said when she noticed them. "Is there something I can help you two with?"

"Ah, no. We completed the mission and would like to submit it."

The receptionist looked puzzled.

"You... completed it already?"

Ren didn't bother explaining. He simply activated his Storage Mark and took out the goblin ears he had collected.

The receptionist's confused expression immediately turned into shock.

"What? You completed it this quickly?"

"Yeah, it's done."

"I see... Well, alright then."

The receptionist quickly regained her composure and began processing the mission. She counted and inspected the goblin ears before placing them into her Storage Mark.

This narrative has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. If you see it on Amazon, please report it.

The guild could verify the completion of a mission later if necessary. If an adventurer falsely claimed to have completed a mission, they would be held accountable and could even have a bounty placed on them.

Because of that, there was little reason for adventurers to lie about their accomplishments.

"Here are your mission rewards."

The receptionist handed Ren a gold coin along with several silver coins.

Ren stored them in his Storage Mark.

Normally, a goblin den of this size would require a party of around ten adventurers to clear. Once the reward was divided among everyone, each person's share would be rather small.

Being an adventurer wasn't an easy profession.

Still, it was considerably better than the lives of ordinary people. Even a single copper coin could buy a loaf of bread.

"So, would you two like to accept another mission?" the receptionist asked.

"No, that's enough for today."

Ren had no particular interest in becoming a full-time adventurer. He only intended to take missions occasionally, both to test his strength and blow off some steam.

After leaving the guild, Ren turned toward Lyra.

"Lyra, let's go eat at the restaurant you mentioned earlier."

"Alright."

Lyra happily held his hand as they walked through the city.

She didn't really care what they did. As long as she could spend time with Ren, she was happy.

They soon arrived at the restaurant and sat down for a normal meal.

The food was quite good, although it was a little greasy.

That wasn't much of a problem in this world, however.

There was a spell that could control the amount of fat stored in the body, allowing people to maintain an optimal body-fat ratio regardless of how much they ate. It was a basic and practical spell that almost every mage learned.

After finishing their meal, the two left the restaurant.

"I was thinking of booking an inn and training for the rest of the day, Lyra. Is that fine with you, or do you want to explore the city a little more?"

"No, training is fine with me. I also want to become stronger and help you."

After witnessing Ren's overwhelming display of magic earlier, Lyra wanted to become stronger so she could keep up with him.

Aside from wanting to stay by Ren's side, Lyra didn't really have any other hobbies besides training.

And so, they found an inn, booked a room, and entered.

As soon as they entered the room, Ren used a cleaning spell to clean the entire place.

He then cast a soundproofing spell along with several other spells to ensure that no one could easily spy on them.

Once everything was prepared, they began training.

Ren still had corruption energy remaining in his body from the morning. He intended to use all of it before accumulating more.

While processing the energy, he also continued teaching Lyra and helping her improve her magic.

Several hours passed in quiet training.

Eventually, Lyra became restless.

Breathing softly, she shifted closer to where Ren sat, reaching out to gently trace her hand over the front of his trousers, her fingers brushing against his shaft.

Ren opened his eyes and stopped her.

"Tomorrow."

Lyra looked reluctant, but she eventually nodded.

"Alright..."

She obediently returned to training.

Later, they went out to eat again before returning to the inn.

By then, the day had come to an end.

After returning to their room, they cast off their robes and

settled onto the comfortable mattress, sleeping bare side-by-side as the quiet night settled over the capital.
