Chapter 20 — A Hundred Spells ( Part 1 )
"Honey, that's the clothing shop I visit most often."
Lyra pointed toward a familiar storefront as she walked beside Ren, their hands intertwined.
"And that's the restaurant I usually go to."
She continued pointing out various places around the capital as they walked through the busy streets.
"Honey, look! That's the magic shop that opened recently."
Ren glanced toward the shop but quickly lost interest.
The magical items being sold there were of little use to him.
Mana potions were supposed to accelerate training or replenish a mage's reserves, but with his SSS-grade talent, Ren's mana growth was already absurdly fast. A normal mana potion would have virtually no effect on his training speed.
Healing potions, poison potions, speed potions, and most other magical items were similarly useless.
Ren already knew almost every spell he needed.
And even if there was something he didn't know, he could simply create it himself.
Soon, the two arrived before the Adventurer's Guild.

The building was bustling with activity. Adventurers of various appearances moved through the hall, some checking the mission boards while others gathered around tables and discussed their latest adventures.
Ren and Lyra walked toward the reception desk.
"Hello, sir and young lady. How may I help you?"
"Hello. We'd like to register as adventurers," Ren said.
"Of course. Please fill out these forms."
The receptionist handed them each a sheet of paper and a pen.
The forms contained the usual information: name, age, place of origin, gender, and other basic details.
Ren filled in his name, age, and gender, then fabricated the rest.
Lyra did the same.
They were supposed to hide their identities for now and reveal them later for the grand surprise.
Ren didn't particularly care either way.
They also listed themselves as husband and wife.
After collecting their forms, the receptionist took out a crystal orb.
"Please place your hands on it one at a time, sir and young miss."
Ren placed his hand on the crystal first.
The orb glowed faintly.
Rank 1.
Nothing surprising.
Lyra placed her hand on it next.
The result was also Rank 1.
Although she possessed an A-grade talent, she was currently Rank 1 as well.
"Everything is in order."
The receptionist handed them both adventurer cards.
"Congratulations on becoming adventurers."
"Thanks."
"Would you like me to show you some suitable missions?"
"Yeah, that's fine."
The receptionist began showing them various Rank 1 missions.
Lyra looked through the available requests before pointing toward one.
"Honey, what do you think of this mission?"
It was a kobold extermination request.
The mission estimated fewer than a dozen kobolds in the area.
Ren looked at it for a moment before shaking his head.
"No, it's too simple. Let's go with this one."
He pointed toward another mission.
This one involved exterminating a goblin den.
The estimated number of goblins was around one hundred, with the strongest among them being a Rank 1 Hobgoblin.
"Whichever you choose, Honey."
Lyra honestly didn't care which mission they took.
She was simply happy to be with him.
"We'll take this mission."
The receptionist quickly processed the request and approved it.
"Be careful out there."
Ren nodded before leaving the guild with Lyra.
The mission reward wasn't important to him.
His main reason for becoming an adventurer was practical combat experience.
He wanted to test his spells against actual opponents.
And since he could kill monsters while doing so, there was no reason not to take advantage of the opportunity.
At the same time, completing missions would allow him to gradually build a reputation.
That reputation would become useful when he even
tually made his move for the throne.
After leaving the busy streets, Ren stopped in a quieter area and looked toward Lyra.
