Suddenly, she heard footsteps behind her. She turned around to see Sarah, her cheeks still flushed from the encounter, quietly slipped into her room. She closed the door behind her, leaning against it for a moment to catch her breath. A small smile played on her lips as she recalled Daniel's reaction, his eyes filled with desire and surprise. She hadn't expected him to be so responsive, so passionate. She had always seen him as a bit reserved, but maybe there was more to him than she thought.
Shaking her head to clear her thoughts, she pushed off from the door and began to gather her things. She had plans with friends later, and she needed to get ready. As she dressed, she found her mind drifting back to Daniel. His strong hands on her skin, his breath on her face... she shook her head again, trying to focus on the present.
Downstairs, Yara, humming a soft tune to herself, started on her daily chores. She wiped down the already clean countertops, her mind wandering back to Daniel's lean, athletic frame. He was an ectomorph, all long limbs and sharp angles, his body a testament to years of dedicated swimming and running. She had seen him shirtless before, his back muscles rippling as he dried off after a swim, his skin glistening in the sunlight. She shook her head slightly, trying to dispel the image from her mind.
She moved on to dusting the living room, her thoughts still lingering on Daniel. She remembered the time they spent together in college, the late-night study sessions that often turned into something more. They had shared so much history together, so many secrets. Yet, here she was, feeling like a stranger in his life now that.
Suddenly, she heard footsteps coming down the stairs. She turned around to see Sarah descending, her hair damp from a recent shower, dressed in casual clothes. Yara offered her a small smile.
"Morning," Yara greeted.
Sarah returned the smile, her eyes bright. "Morning," she replied."
Yara shrugged nonchalantly. "It just a Habit," she said while smiling. "I like to get things done early so I can have the rest of the day free."
Sarah nodded understandingly. But she saw something different from Yara today. She couldn't help but show a knowing smile.
Sarah's eyes sparkled with mischief as she watched Yara, noting the slight blush on her cheeks and the way her hands fidgeted with the dusting cloth. "You know," Sarah began, a teasing lilt in her voice, "you seem a bit... different today, Yara."
Yara paused, her eyes meeting Sarah's. She tried to keep her expression neutral, but the blush on her cheeks deepened. "Different? How so?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Sarah laughed softly, enjoying the game. "Oh, come on. You're all flushed, and you can't seem to stand still. It's like you've got a secret you're dying to share." She leaned in slightly, her eyes twinkling with curiosity. "Or maybe it's not a secret at all. Maybe it's something that happened last night?"
Yara's blush intensified, spreading down to her neck. She looked away from Sarah, trying to hide her reaction. "I don't know what you're talking about," she muttered.
Sarah grinned wider, enjoying Yara's discomfort. "Oh, I think you do," she said playfully. "And I think I might have an idea too." She leaned back against the couch, crossing her arms over her chest. "Oh, really? And what might that be?" Yara challenged, her curiosity piqued despite her earlier denial. She put down the dusting cloth and gave Sarah her full attention.
Sarah uncrossed her arms and leaned forward, a conspiratorial look in her eyes. "Well, I couldn't help but notice how... responsive Daniel was this morning. And you seemed a bit flustered when you saw h "Him?" Sarah finished for Yara, a mischievous grin spreading across her face. "You know, for someone who claims not to know what I'm talking about, you sure seem interested in this conversation."
Yara rolled her eyes, trying to hide her amusement. "Alright, fine. I might have noticed something. But that doesn't mean anything. It was just... a moment."
Sarah chuckled, leaning back into the couch. "A moment, huh? Well, this 'moment' seems to have left quite an impression on you." She paused, then added teasingly, "And on Daniel too, from what I could see."
Yara picked up the dusting cloth again, starting to wipe down the coffee table with a bit more vigor than necessary. "I'm just saying he seems... different today. More at ease or something."
"And you like this new 'ease', don't you?" Sarah prodded gently.
Yara sighed internally, knowing she was walking into Sarah's trap but unable to stop herself. "Maybe I do," she admitted softly.
Sarah laughed triumphantly, clapping her hands together. "I knew it! You like him! You really like him!"
Yara groaned dramatically, dropping the dusting cloth onto the table. "I never said that!"
Sarah grinned widely. "You didn't have to. It's written all over your face."
Before Yara could respond, Sarah stood up abruptly. "Anyway, I should get going. I have plans today," she said, grabbing her bag from the coat rack by the door.
Yara watched as Sarah opened the front door, then called out after her and was reminded by sarah. "Hey, remind Daniel about our outing tonight! You know how he gets when he's distracted by... things." She gestured vaguely towards the ceiling where Daniel's room was located.
Yara replied her with a smile. "Oh, I'll remind him alright," she said with a wink as she watched Sarah disappearing through the door.
Yara shook her head as she closed the door behind Sarah, a small smile playing on her lips despite herself. She picked up the dusting cloth again and continued with her chores, but her mind kept drifting back to Daniel and his unexpected reaction that morning.
As she worked, she found herself humming a soft tune under her breath one that had been stuck in her head since she saw Daniel's face filled with desire earlier that day. She shook her head slightly at herself but couldn't suppress the smile that tugged at her lips.
After all these years of sharing a home with Daniel and watching him grow into an attractive man, it seemed she might finally be seeing him in a new light one that made her heart race and her cheeks flush just thinking about it.
And as much as she tried to deny it to Sarah (and maybe even to herself), Yara knew deep down that there was something different about Daniel today and it wasn't just because of their shared history or their close living arrangement.
There was something more between them now; something electric and undeniable that left Yara feeling both exhilarated and terrified all at once.
But for now, she pushed those thoughts aside and focused on getting through the rest of her chores before their planned outing later that evening hoping against hope that whatever had passed between them wouldn't fade away like mist in the morning sun.
